Dreamin Strikes Again!!!

Dreamin,  Previously accused of kidnapping, torture and attempted murder!!, STRIKES AGAIN. (No animal were serious hurt in the making of this story)

Its hard to believe but we have a “law breaker” living in my barn lot. It is of course the four legged type and of the equine species. dreaming-loves-the-petting.jpgDreamin has now committed her second set of criminal acts. I guest when she’s not being a sweetheart, she is just prone to living on the wrong side of the “law” (or is it fence?) .

Her first break from the “law” came a couple weeks ago while I , the caretaker, was cleaning the water-tank. The tank is a large type, about 150 gals and doesn’t get cleaned except about once a month, unless somebody uses it for intentions that are not suppose to be (like a horse kitty box), then I have to clean it more. Thankfully my horses don’t do that too often. Anyway back to the story, I was dipping out the remaining of the water and had to catch the gold fish that call this tank home. They live in the take year around and seem pretty happy to take what the horses drop in the tank for food. My horses like to wash their lips off after finishing a meal, so the fish get lots of stuff to eat. I capture the fish and put them in a 5 gal bucket with about a gal of water. I then set this to the side. I dip out the rest of the water so I can haul it far away, (Don’t need any more ice by the horses). While I was gone, Dreamin went over to the fish bucket and grabbed the bucket by the handle and headed out to the pasture, fish, water and all. (Kidnapping) When Dreamin was a good little distance from the tank, she set the bucket down, looked at the fish, then pushed the bucket over, spilling the fish out onto the snow. She then seemed totally amazed that the fish were flopping around in the snow and just stood there watching,(torture and attempted murder). I, of course was not very far off so I scooped the fish up, placed them in another bucket with water and the fish recovered fine. Dreaming however was release with bail (she grabbed the empty bucket and took off with it) and the next week committed another “crime”.

This time robbery. It has barely been over a week since Dreamin was in “trouble” the first time when she was back in the attention of the “Barn Police”. This time for robbery and jail breaking.

It was a beautiful Saturday and people were beginning to think of spring, riding and just horsen around in general. My self and one other owner was down at the barn. The owner, we will call Sue had brought some treats for the horses in a plastic bag, loosely tied and left outside the pasture. We had gone inside to pet the horses and possible take some pictures. Dreamin saw the bag and realized nobody was getting any of the wonderful treats and she decided something needed to be done. So First she quickly opens the gate and sneaks out into the hall of the barn. Next she  preceeded to try and get the treats out of the bag but the loose knot at the top was a little hard for her to untie. I , of course saw Dreamin sneak out so went after her.

She heard me coming and knew the gig was about up, she only had one choice: Grab the bag and run. And that what she did but she grabbed it by the bottom of the bag and preceded to throw treats everywhere!!!! She ran off shaking that bag, leaving me and Sue almost on our knees laughing. I got the bag away from her before she swallow it and no harm was done except to the treats themselves. They were scattered everywhere. Well nothing left to do except turn all the horses loose and let them have a hay day finding the treats. And boy did they have fun. You would have thought they were bloodhounds with their noses to the ground looking for treats. Dreaming was allowed to join the fun so I guest her little robbery act paid off, she got treats for herself and everybody else!!! Well its time for me to go to the barn and see what adventure awaits today. Until next time. Deb
