More Little Kids and Horses, Oh Boy!!!

A WONDERFUL Combination
When it's Walkers. For 2 days , my stables "sponsored" a field trip for two groups of pre-schoolers. It was wonderful and the horses did absolutely amazing. They had kids around and petting them, feeding treats and asking questions. All the horses from young to old (9mo – 24 years) would put their heads down to the children level so the kids could pet them. They (the horses, not the kids) stood quietly in the barn while I talked and never once got nervous or anything. Below are some of the amazing shots from the two days. The youner group, 3 and 4 years olds came on 4 Apr and had a blast. The horses love kids. The kids love horses, cats, dogs and the gold fish swimming in the water tanks.
The light horse is Dreaming. She loves attention. Cinch was fascinated by the kids and put his head down to be petted. Hammer had kids everywhere and didn't mind. In this picture some of us are looking at his big hairy feet while other kids were petting different parts. One had hold of the rope and was "holding" Hammer. (the problem was the other end wasn't fastened to anything.
Hammer is willing to be petted too. He puts his large head down to the children level so they could pet his face.
You can make a bad horse real easy, But a really kind horse must be born that way. Its easiest to start with a horse with the mental capacity to be friendly.
That what I love about the Walkers. They start off very friendly, like Cinch, then just get better!!!
